This section specifies the hardware and software required to run the version of SoftWindows for SGI workstations.
INDY, R4000 Indigo, Indigo2, Power Indigo2, and Silicon Graphics systems that use the R4000 or later processors.
The R2000 and R3000 series are not supported by SoftWindows 2.0
The recommended minimum CPU is a 133Mhz R4600SC.
About 50 Mbytes are required to install SoftWindows and an additional 80 Mbytes for the default windows disk installation.
SoftWindows hard disk files are a minimum size when created, and expand as data is written to them. For example, an 80 Mbyte bootable Windows disk will initially be 20 Mbytes but will expand to 80 Mbytes per user when full.
The swap space should be at least three times the physical memory size for 32 Mbyte systems or twice the physical memory size for systems with more than 32 Mbytes.
The standard 3.5-inch Silicon Graphics compatible floppy disk drive is supported.
To install SoftWindows you need to have a compatible CD-ROM drive connected to your workstation.
Network devices supplied by Silicon Graphics are supported. Token ring support will be available.
