This guide describes InfoSearch, Silicon Graphics' desktop information searching and document browsing system. InfoSearch provides you with a way to search, browse, and view all the documentation available on the desktop in one interface, including man pages, release notes, and online books.
This guide contains the following chapters:
Chapter 1, “InfoSearch Tasks,” contains a collection of How To help cards.
Chapter 2, “InfoSearch Reference,” contains a complete description of the tool's graphical user and command-line interfaces.
This guide assumes that you're familiar with the the Silicon Graphics desktop.

Below are the typographical and graphic conventions used in this guide:
Bold—Functions, option flags, and classes.
Italic—Filenames, button names, field names, variables, emphasis, glossary terms, and IRIX commands.
Regular—Menu and window names, data types, keywords, and text.
“Quoted”—Menu choices.
Fixed-width—Code examples and command syntax.
Bold fixed-width—User input. Nonprinting <keys> are bracketed.
