This chapter describes how to use the IRIX inst(1m) utility to install DMF. To install DMF on Linux systems, see Chapter 6, “Installing DMF on Linux Systems”.

To install DMF, complete the steps in Procedure 5-1.
Procedure 5-1. Installing the Software from CD-ROM
You must stop DMF before installing an upgrade version. Use the following command:
/etc/init.d/dmf stop
Place the CD-ROM into the drive.
Using the left mouse button, select System->Software Manager on the pulldown menu.
On the Available Software list, select /CDROM/dist.
TO INSTALL THE DMF SERVER: Click on Customize Installation. You will receive more information about the size of the DMF software and the directories and files in it. Click on the Install button and select the folder icon next to Product to view the contents of the software.
TO INSTALL THE DMF CLIENT: Click on Customize Installation. Select the DMF client software subsystem and the DMF client man pages. Deselect the DMF server subsystem.
Click on the Start button. The Status Log section of the window will display the following message when the DMF installation is complete:
Installations and removals were successful.
Select File -> Exit .
Eject the CD-ROM.
