Before installing the ISDN PCI software, determine the version of the operating system that is running on your system. Different software is required or recommended depending on the version of the operating system. Use the command uname -a to check your operating system version.
The CD shipped with this option board contains the required subsystem files and additional rollup patches that may be needed. Because you want to install only the patches for problems you have encountered, patch software is not installed by default.
Please review the information in this document and in the release notes contained on the patch CD. After reviewing this information, determine the subsystem and/or patches that meet your specific needs.
If you are running IRIX 6.4 on your OCTANE workstation, install the 6.4 ISDN subsystem for OCTANE. This subsystem is required to operate the ISDN PCI option board. If this ISDN board is going to be used in Japan on the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) phone system, a software patch is required to enable the NTT switch to function in the Desktop ISDN Manager. See the CD release notes for information about the appropriate patch to install.
If you are running IRIX 6.3 on your O2 workstation, see the release notes on the CD for information on the ISDN 6.3 rollup patch provided. If this ISDN board is going to be used in Japan on the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) phone system, patches are required to provide the necessary ISDN software and to enable the NTT switch to function in the Desktop ISDN Manager. See the CD release notes for information about the appropriate patches to install.
Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics software product. Follow the installation instructions in your CD booklet.
The ISDN PCI CD should not be installed on other systems.
Detailed information about the software is found in release notes on the software CDs. To view the release notes for patches or subsystems, follow these instructions:
